Animation is a graphic system in its own right. It sublimates the richness of stories, graphic works, experiences, immersive experiences. The evolution of practices and media has emerged a new playground for the movement.

Motion design is well known as a symbol of this new convergence between graphic design and movement. Today, this practice lies between a marketing strategy and an aesthetic experience that leads the viewer to a second stage of reading a work.

~ pre-production

Also knows as the discovery phase this crucial step consists in defining a style, an atmosphere and a narrative discourse. It is illustrated in a study of the need but also in the exploration of the graphic and ethical identity of the client.

Visualization of ideas using storyboards, a scenario and moodboard images allows for feedback on the project sketch.

02

 

~ creative production

The work is sketched around intention sketches mentioning ideas for framing and transitions. This film preediting makes it possible to delay the sequence of key moments of the scenario.

The cutting of the scenes in its entirety ensures a stable production without unknown but also an intelligence in the structure of the compositions.

Storyboarding, animatic, definition of the story, setting up the tempo, placing the cameras, character & props design.

~ executive production

A solid conceptual basis ensures a fast production phase in line with the original vision. This step aims to materialize the graphic desires and strategies in animation. This work is purely technical.

Once validated in all these aspects, the animation is exported as images. Depending on the project, this last step is more or less resource-intensive.

Stage layout, assets modeling and texturing, animation, scene lighting, rendering.

 
 

04

 

~ post-production

A pre-calculated video results in a long and intense computer calculation. An experience in augmented reality or virtual reality does not require rendering costs but recommends an export and integration work of the elements.

The calculated images are raw and generally require colorimetric and sound retouching depending on the style. A final final export in different formats concludes the project.

Creative process is rigorous but flexible. The duration and nature of the creative stages vary according to the complexity and challenges of the project.

Animated movies, graphic packages, visual identities, music scenography, TV advertising campaigns, VR & AR experiences, digital installations and mobile content. Each project is unique.

Any graphic style, whether figurative or abstract, gives rise to a relevant animation method. Thomas is able to design 2D animations, traditional or by interpolation; 3D animations in pre-calculated and real-time; as well as 3D stop-motion.
